Effect of Artificial Intelligence Usage on Learning Outcome among Undergraduate Computer Science Students of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State, Nigeria.

This study looked at how computer science students at Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijebu Ode, used artificial intelligence (AI) and how that affected their academic learning outcomes. This study sought to evaluate the effects of AI tools like ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and personalized learning platforms on students' comprehension, performance, engagement, and technical proficiency in light of their growing integration into educational environments. 200 undergraduate computer science students were given structured questionnaires as part of a quantitative study approach. Descriptive statistics, Ordinal Logistic Regression (OLR), and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) were used to examine the data. According to the findings, most students had favorable opinions of AI and reported better academic achievement, a deeper comprehension of difficult subjects, higher problem-solving abilities, and increased learning efficiency. While worries about relying too much on AI showed weak negative associations with these benefits, correlation analysis revealed considerable positive relationships between various AI-related academic benefits. The regression results also showed that students with excellent digital literacy and self-confidence were less likely to feel dependent on AI technology, even when intensive AI usage may increase dependency. The study comes to the conclusion that, when used properly, AI tools improve academic achievement. To avoid over-reliance, it suggests integrating AI into the curriculum in an organized manner, improving digital literacy, and encouraging critical thinking. This study contributes to the growing discourse on AI in education and lays the groundwork for institutional policies and instructional design.
